Dear Members,
At the AGM last month, I volunteered to help organize the annual walking getaway each year for the group. Helen and Joe are no longer able to do this anymore and just to say thank you for all the hard work entailed to make the trips enjoyable and successful. Also, to David and Jane.
As I will be arranging this on my own, I may have to involve walking organizations like Ramblers Holidays and HF Holidays.
Because time is getting on now, I think we will have to look at September 2025 instead of April for availability etc…
My first choice is HF Longmynd Hotel in Church Stretton Shropshire, 2 reasons - the hotel is really nice and comfortable, and the walking is amazing. We can have guided or self-guided walks with HF. Guided walks are good as we don't have to worry about arranging our own walk leaders and walks - which can be difficult in an unfamiliar environment.
I will make enquiries and see what is available and send out more information. We should get a discount for a group booking and HF offer full board including free packed lunches. If anyone is an HF member their discounts will apply. One of our Amber Valley members, Frankie, is a volunteer walk leader for HF.
