Amber Valley Ramblers Derbyshire

Footpath Maintenance 1 May 2018

Site: Codnor Denby Lane

The first assignment for our Footpaths working party, in a considerable time, was able to go ahead today. As readers will no doubt be aware the liaison with the Derbyshire County Council on this kind of work has had to be curtailed due to budget cuts and the group were pleased to be able to resume work today. Our first date was rained off in grand style, but fortune smiled on us today. The group included some new members who quite enjoyed taking part and we completed the job in perfect weather, all agreed it was nice to get back into practice again. Some liaison with the Council had enabled the loan of some specialist tools and together with our own which we had taken with us enabled us to complete the job and of course we no longer had the Countryside Service Land Rover for support.
Old timbers and a pallet were removed and the new gate installed as instructed. The finished gate was duly adorned with a Ramblers  Emblem and path user advice plaques. It is hoped some further jobs can follow from Michael's list of items reported in need attention.
