A linear walk from Duffield to Belper. Only 2 of us used the train to Duffield, but some others used the bus.So I will try some more sustainable walks in the future, so that our walkers have the choice of not using the car. I know John Morrisey does his bus based ambles, but these will be longer Wednesday walks. 12 of us met in Duffield Mainline car park. The weather was lovely with sunshine and a cool breeze, which got quite warm later. We went through the lovely older part of Duffield and followed the River Ecclesborne out into the flat meadows. Lots of sheep and cows and horses. Then we crossed the river and up through the fields to Hazelwood. We had coffee with a wonderful view of the Eccclesborne valley. Then onward through Hazelwood, passing the church and then took the lovely path up onto the Chevin. Lunch over looking Belper at its best. Then down into Belper, where we all caught buses or walked back home. Good walk . Keep your eyes out for the next carbon reduced walk, Ambergate to Belper. Hopfully largely car free! Jane.
