A very good turnout, on this hastily prepared walk, considering how many of our members are treading the paths in another county, some even country. There was a gap and an urgent need to fill it, so I set to, on Monday and prepared todays walk. It all went smoothly, with many thankyous at the end. There were quite a number of stiles, so it was two-fifteen by the time we reached the Fountain Café, back in Bonsall, having stopped for our lunch break in Winster. You will see from some of the pictures that we had some very inspiring views. Autumn is such a lovely time of year for nature to show its true colours. The route I had chosen was quite easy to follow, leaving by the steps opposite the Fountain Café, making our way up via Slaley Farm. Then onto the moor, to Bottom Leys Farm, Green Lane took us to Whitelow Farm (redundant see picture), stopping here for our morning break. Then for the next two miles, heading north, downhill mostly, to Winster for Lunch. Our return journey was almost entirely following the Limestone Way. We encountered very few cattle, which were all behaved and we saw plenty of sheep of many differing breeds along the way. A bit later than expected getting back, but that was purely due to the number of up and over stiles, we had to negotiate.
