Written on behalf of Ticknall Playgroup. We meet at Ticknall Village Hall on a Wednesday and a Thursday between 9.45am and noon.
Over the past couple of months there has been a very minor issue with parking at the village hall and I just wanted to take this opportunity to ask you to point out to your members that it is sign-posted in the car park that the section near the main entrance to the hall is reserved for hall users.
Most walkers have been extremely co-operative if we have asked them to move and explained that we have parents arriving with babies and toddlers. We have to be mindful of the safety of the children (and parents) arriving at playgroup and the ease with which they can attend, otherwise, unfortunately we are likely to loose attendees which would be a shame for the support network it offers parents. The majority of parents who attend are not from Ticknall but from the surrounding villages and so have to drive.
May we suggest to your members that on fine sunny days when the walk is likely to be well attended they try and park as close together as is practically possible (spaces are not marked so this can mean that cars are not a 'snug' as they could be) and the if the public area of the car park is full then they park on the verges (they are wide) just outside the car park, or on the roads around the village.
We in no way wish to discourage the walkers - they are a very valuable part of Ticknall life and the children just love waving to the 'happy hikers' across the car park!!!
(Many apologies if this does not apply to your group). Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Ticknall Playgroup - Secretary
